Sungura musician Tongai "Dhewa" Moyo, who is battling cancer, was reportedly taken ill at Avenues Clinic over the weekend.

According to a friend who requested anonymity, Dhewa's health deteriorated in the last couple of days and he was rushed to the Avenues Clinic for specialist treatment.

Since Dhewa was diagnosed with cancer known as Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL), he has been in and out of the hospital where he is receiving chemotherapy.

NHL is a cancer of a type of white blood cell called lymphocytes.

Lymphocytes are part of the immune system that protects the body from infection and disease.

NHL is a group of 30 or more cancers that begin in the lymphocytes.

Arguably one of the best sungura musicians in country, Dhewa has released more that 10 albums and has churned out hits that include "Naye", "Murozvi Mukuru", "Zakeo" and "Muchina Muhombe", to mention a few.
