Husband, hermaphrodite wife rapes girl

 

Linia Madehama ,a 36 year old woman from Chiredzi who is believed to be a hermaphrodite ganged up with her husband and allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl, in a unique case that has raised the debate on whether she is able to use both her sexual organs.

Linia Madehama and her husband Aleck Marime from Jekeche village, Chief Gudo in Chiredzi district have since been arrested.Masvingo provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Phibion Nyambo, said this was a unique case.

“We received a report of a woman and her husband who have been raping a 15-year-old girl they were staying with. The woman has her own children with her husband but claims to be a hermaphrodite. It is a unique incident, a case of its own kind where someone claims that both sexual organs are equally active and goes to the extent of raping,’’ said Inspector Nyambo.

He said it was Marime who started raping the girl when he was left in custody of the minor sometime in July when his wife was away at work at Humani Range.When the wife returned from work, Insp Nyambo said, she would also call the girl into the house where she would rape her.

The girl is said to have run away to her sister after the woman had raped her several times for a period of a week.She narrated to her sister the sexual abuse she had been subjected to during her stay with the uncle and his wife.

The sister then made a report to the police at Chibuwe police station, leading to the arrest of the wife while her husband ran away and was only arrested after the police launched a manhunt.

He added that the two were in police custody and would be taken to court on charges of rape as defined in section 65 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.
